Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about measuring, published dimensions, fit tools, delivery paths and the limits of online planning.

Can this site guarantee that something will fit?

No. The tools organize measurements and identify obvious margins or conflicts, but they cannot reproduce every curve, turn, obstruction, manufacturing variation or handling method.

Should I use centimetres or inches?

Use the system that matches your most reliable source. The tools accept metric or imperial measurements and convert internally. Avoid mixing units without converting them.

Why is a doorway’s clear opening smaller than its stated size?

The door slab, hinges, handle, frame, trim, closer or storm door can reduce usable space. Measure the open gap that the item must actually pass through.

Is a diagonal measurement enough to prove a sofa will fit?

No. Diagonal comparisons can flag possibilities or risks, but a rigid three-dimensional object must also rotate through real space with enough room for people to handle it.

What is the difference between product size and installation size?

Product size describes the physical item. Installation size may also include ventilation, service access, hoses, cords, door swing, levelling and manufacturer-required gaps.

Why check several sources for dimensions?

Retailer pages, manufacturer pages, manuals and packaging may use different definitions, rounding or data. A mismatch is a warning to investigate before the return period closes.

What should I do with a seasonal purchase?

Open, inspect and measure it promptly, even when installation is months away. Record the return deadline and keep evidence of the advertised model and dimensions.

Does removing packaging mean furniture will fit?

Not necessarily. Packaging adds bulk, but the rigid furniture frame may still be too tall, wide or deep to pass through the route.

Should I remove a door or furniture part?

Only when it can be done safely, legally and without damaging property, the product or its warranty. Delivery teams may have their own limits. Use a qualified person where appropriate.

Are the calculators suitable for professional installation decisions?

They are planning aids, not engineering, architectural, code-compliance or installation approvals. Use model-specific instructions and qualified professionals for critical work.

Does the site store my measurements?

The calculators run in your browser and are not designed to save your entries. Printing or saving a worksheet is your responsibility.

Can I rely on airline, building-code or accessibility dimensions here?

No. This site does not maintain airline policies or jurisdiction-specific code tables. Check the current official source for the exact trip, building and location.
